Speaking of the brick, when we saw it stacked in front of the House, Gabbi almost had a heart attack. They pile all the brick so the side that you see is toward the middle, it won't get damaged in transport. They use a red clay brick and the front and ends get treated with colour not the whole thing. Gabbi thought we were getting red brick put on the house. When we drove by she got to see that the wall is not red. We did have an issue though, of course something we didn't double check, but it is a win for me :) The Brick we chose, and got Pictures of I believe is Manchester from Brampton Brick, the Sheet we signed is actually Riverdale. Riverdale is a bit darker brown, which I like better anyways.
Today we also had our initial inspection with Simon the Site Supervisor. Gabbi decided it would be a good idea to make this appointment for 7:30 am on a Monday morning for some reason. I have no idea why, I wasn't very awake during the walk through. We DID get to wear our styling Hard Hats, and Gabbi put her beautiful " Safety Welly's" on. Because we are at the border of a "noise" zone (theres a train track not too far away) 3 sides of the house had cement board installed underneath the pink walls you see in the photos. Some of the stuff I took note of in my sleepy brain:
- The wiring and Plumbing look nice and cleanly installed, no hacked though areas.
- The Electrical panel is in a different position than the demo house, and is clearly labeled.
- The Cement Board mentioned above
- They spray foamed EVERYTHING. When I say EVERYTHING I mean it. Every seam in the walls in the pink stuff is sealed with it. The cement board seams are sealed with it. Every single hole that wiring or plumbing go through in the entire house are sealed with it. Every seam between boards that are on an outside wall, even though they will be sealed by moisture barrier are sealed with it.
- There will be a separate control panel for the Heat Exchanger, I guess to control humidity and flow.
I will have to go by the house later today , or late tomorrow to see if I can get photos.
****UPDATE****
Ok went and grabbed some photos quickly. There was a guy still working there at 7:15 , he started at 7am, he said they go from Dawn till it gets too dark to see well enough to do the job right. Simon, the site supervisor said brick was due to be done in 3 days, by the looks of it, it is past halfway done now, in one day.
