Well our first large issue has cropped up. We got a call to tell us that apparently the siding we chose, Vytech Prestige in CanyonRidge is apparently all gone. There is none available in Canada at all. Since they started to put the siding on the House next to us, we figured everything was all set, and we would be done siding next week or so. I guess now we have to make an appointment and figure out what our options are. It really sucks when you pick something, and 4 months later find out you can't have it. Especially since we really wanted to go with something different than what is on almost every house in the neighborhood, withing reason of course. So far I am just going by the phone message left, so I have no clue how this could have happened, or how it can be resolved. We shall see......
****UPDATE****
So we were going to meet with Pat Saturday morning at the house, she was going to bring a bunch of samples from other companies that they deal with to see if we could find a replacement for the Canyon Ridge siding. I guess they decided that it was less of an issue to go to the USA and get the siding than they thought initially because someone is going down south to pick up siding for us. So YAY we get the siding we wanted after all!! Gabbi and I were kind of angry that we were being rushed into this siding decision. It seemed real late to find out about the shortage of what we chose in February. It makes me very happy that Reids is going to the lengths they are to keep us happy customers.

Lots and Lots of Pictures
On Saturday the 14th of June we decided to break in, err borrow the keys to the house and have a look inside. They had done the first layer of taping and compound on the drywall. This past Sunday (22nd of June) We again went inside to see how far along they are. They are all done the drywall, now they are on to the trim and doors inside. One grpe is the door to the downstairs is on backwards, this after discussing it a couple of weeks ago as to which way we would like to to open.
There are boards over the Garage because they are storing windows inside. So we now have a front walkway paved, and a front step. I think that is about it for outside differences.
This is the Livingroom window looking out to the backyard.
This is the Dining Room window and back door to the yard. Some of the trim is done here, and the floor where I am standing has a workbench etc for cutting etc.
This will eventually become the Kitchen. The sink will be under the Window, Fridge to the right. If you look back to the older pictures for the layout , you will get an idea of what it should look like.
This is the back half of the living room, The door there that is closed it to the downstairs. Right now it opens toward the front door, we want it to open the opposite, so if multiple people (bringing bikes etc ) need to go downstairs, they don't need to all go into the living room first.
Just a quick shot of the basement. The insulation on the walls is just roughed in, well the whole thing is just roughed in I guess. The box contains the water heater. The basement will be unfinished, so we get to live with pink walls.
This is the Laundry area, well it will be at least. Shannon trying to figure out what the big tubes are for. They are the Air to Air heat exchanger Exhaust and fresh air vents.
Our Power Pipe yay! Their website seems to be down at the moment, I hope they are still around, the product is just awesome.
The upstairs main bathroom. No the tub is not blue, it is covered in blue plastic for protection.
Bedroom #1, the Parents Room as Gabbi calls it. This will be our spare bedroom.
Same bedroom, looking away from the Window, at the closet. The door to the left will be Gabbi's Office, you can sort of see the Bathroom door to the right of that.

These are two shots of the second Bedroom, Gabbi's Office.
The Master Bedroom, looking out the Windows to the Front of the House.
The Master Bedroom His and Her's closets. We will see if I actually get to use any of the closet space or not.
The En suite Shower. I couldn't get a good Photo, too many tools etc in the way.
Heading upstairs to the Loft. They have finished installing the Oak railing and spindles up here.
The loft facing South.
The Loft facing North, towards the stairs.
Well that about sums up the second adventure inside the house. It seems everything is rocketing along right now.
I did grab a couple of photos Friday while walking to the House.
Just as I was going to enter "The Forest", the pathway that shortcuts almost behind the house, this guy poped out of a Bush and decided to pose for a couple of pictures.
This is what the pathway looks like in the forested area. You can see the cedar chip path leading away. It is really nice in there. The foliage is really dense, in the evenings with sunglasses on it looks really dark. During the winter and spring when there were no leaves on the trees it looks completely different of course.

Not much of an update
They are working hard I guess on the interior, but I haven't sneaked into the back to get pictures through the windows I can reach. They have finished drywalling the garage and put a finish on the foundation though. I guess they cleaned out the interior just before I took the photos because there is one hell of a lot of garbage sitting on the front porch.
Not much of an updated shot, you can see the drywall in the garage, and the finish on the foundation. I guess there isn't THAT much left to see on the outside now. The pillars on the front porch, the siding, the trim around the windows, eaves troughs and the fascia, steps on the front and Deck on the back, Garage Door and a bit of paint. O yeah Grass would be nice too.
O yeah we got Window Wells too. I guess the basement windows go in last? They had venting going in and out of them before. That big pile of dirt on the back would be the topsoil I believe. At least I hope so, I didn't really want a hill in the back yard.

Brick is Done
Well all the brickwork is now done, I guess it took just over 2 days because of rain one morning. The little number stone is on above the Garage, I like it. It isn't too big, and hopefully theres enough light to see it at night. It was complete overcast , and 7 pm when I took the pictures, so they look dark.
The scaffolding is up to the left still because they are doing our neighbors house now. It is grey but textured kind of like stone, looks nice.
Here's the back door. Now there is a nice window sill to put the JD on.

Let There Be Brick!
Well, the Brick showed up the other day , I didn't get any shots of it sitting around, I could probably Photoshop some piles in front of the recent pictures and get the same effect. They actually started doing the brick today. We drove by on the way home but they were still working on it, and trucks were everywhere so I didn't grab any photos. I didn't want to be in the way etc.
Speaking of the brick, when we saw it stacked in front of the House, Gabbi almost had a heart attack. They pile all the brick so the side that you see is toward the middle, it won't get damaged in transport. They use a red clay brick and the front and ends get treated with colour not the whole thing. Gabbi thought we were getting red brick put on the house. When we drove by she got to see that the wall is not red. We did have an issue though, of course something we didn't double check, but it is a win for me :) The Brick we chose, and got Pictures of I believe is Manchester from Brampton Brick, the Sheet we signed is actually Riverdale. Riverdale is a bit darker brown, which I like better anyways.
Today we also had our initial inspection with Simon the Site Supervisor. Gabbi decided it would be a good idea to make this appointment for 7:30 am on a Monday morning for some reason. I have no idea why, I wasn't very awake during the walk through. We DID get to wear our styling Hard Hats, and Gabbi put her beautiful " Safety Welly's" on. Because we are at the border of a "noise" zone (theres a train track not too far away) 3 sides of the house had cement board installed underneath the pink walls you see in the photos. Some of the stuff I took note of in my sleepy brain:
I will have to go by the house later today , or late tomorrow to see if I can get photos.
****UPDATE****
Ok went and grabbed some photos quickly. There was a guy still working there at 7:15 , he started at 7am, he said they go from Dawn till it gets too dark to see well enough to do the job right. Simon, the site supervisor said brick was due to be done in 3 days, by the looks of it, it is past halfway done now, in one day.
The Standard Pic
Here is one of the side walls.
This is an HDR image of the Back, the Sun kind of got in the way.

Some of the stuff I took note of in my sleepy brain:
- The wiring and Plumbing look nice and cleanly installed, no hacked though areas.
- The Electrical panel is in a different position than the demo house, and is clearly labeled.
- The Cement Board mentioned above
- They spray foamed EVERYTHING. When I say EVERYTHING I mean it. Every seam in the walls in the pink stuff is sealed with it. The cement board seams are sealed with it. Every single hole that wiring or plumbing go through in the entire house are sealed with it. Every seam between boards that are on an outside wall, even though they will be sealed by moisture barrier are sealed with it.
- There will be a separate control panel for the Heat Exchanger, I guess to control humidity and flow.
I will have to go by the house later today , or late tomorrow to see if I can get photos.
