Time to start over

So all the photos of the construction up until now? Ignore them :p I have a bunch of photos to post , from foundation up to today where they have build the first floor and walls to the garage. YAY!! Walls and stuff are good right? Too bad we have such sucky weather this week. After a week of solid sun and in the 20's (70's for the Americans and older folk out there) it decided to get darn cold, and cloudy. Hopefully this isn't some sort of foreshadowing of things to come because we all know how Billy Shakespeare's plays turn out when shit gets cloudy and rainy. Mind you he didn't have the advanced construction techniques available today to shrug the weather off.

The hole in front of that nicely poured foundation is our hole.

This is the first shot of the actual footings. There was a big shipping container in the way when it was taken, so you don't get to see the whole thing.

First shot of the poured foundation. They decided that there was a great parking spot for a rather large fork lift right in front there, so again I couldn't get the whole thing in frame.
You can see the neighbors house behind us in this shot though. Yes that is a sliding door that opens on to nothing. I guess they didn't like the whole deck thing, and decided parachuting out the back door was much more fun.
Our first bit of wood. Behind that wall is all the wood etc piled up to build with. I have no clue what is in the shipping container. I really wasn't that curious to tell the truth, but it does keep getting in the way.

These last couple of photos are just me goofing around. They were both taken on the pathway that goes through the treed area. The houses was me playing with a quick HDR photograph. The other is the entrance to part of the pathway.

For some reason I expect to see a candy cottage at the end of this pathway.

How to look foolish on the Interwebs

Well we got the whole issue with the house beside us cleared up, turns out IT IS OUR HOUSE. So all the Photos of the foundation, and the lot with us and the lot number in them, ignore them :) Or at least shift your view to the right side of the pictures and oooh and ahhh the dirt there instead.
So what the heck happened? Somehow when we were looking at the lots, we saw 118, and 119, and didn't think about them looking too big. There WAS no 117 sign anywhere at all. When we asked about 118, we were told the lot beside us had a house on it. The signs for 118 and 119 are basically right beside each other, if you look in the earlier photos of us standing by the sign, the 119 sign is cut off right at the edge. As well, when we had our build meeting we were told they would start digging around the 4 week mark. The first hole was dug 5 weeks after that meeting, and the other one (our REAL house) was at the 7 week mark, so we figured that it was the one that started at the time we were told it would. Well shit, do you think they will tear up the foundation and redo it because I missed taking pictures? I somehow doubt it, because the customer is an idiot (sometimes) doesn't make the builder one. So now I guess I run over there with the camera, and see what photos I can grab.

This is interesting

Gabbi and I went by the sales office to ask a couple of questions last night. We have known for a couple of weeks that they are building a new house next to ours, you can see the Footings for it in the latest photos. In an odd occurrence, the sales person had no clue that they were building a house there at all. There is a fire access road there, and the lot was supposed to remain empty until they finished the proper roadway at the other side of the subdivision. Once the other road was finished they would meet fire regulations for access to the area, and could then sell the lot beside us and build. I was looking at the layout map, and lot 119 has a big X through it because of that. Somehow the Salesperson, has no clue as to what they are building there because they never sold that lot. I guess it is time to make some calls and figure out what is going on.

Foundation is done

The foundation has now been poured, YAY! The took off the molds yesterday, so they haven't done any of the sealing etc yet. There was a big pile of dirt out front, so I couldn't get the best shot, o well, it is just poured concrete, nothing real exciting.

I have been trying to take a picture from the same angle every time, but of course the first bunch will be facing down into a hole, so later the will not match up. It should make a good slide show for the outside once all is done though.
We also have a neighbor being built as well. As you can see in the bottom photo, it looks rather close. Well yes it is, it is what we get for living in "copycat land" as Gabbi calls it. I hope they aren't smelly.
I found a neat thing today though. I walked over to take the photos, as our apartment is so close, and there is a paved path heading into the woods toward out house from a road on the way. I decided to see where it lead. Well the paved part isn't very long, but they have a cedar chip path that winds through the little tree'd valley back there. It ends up coming out at a paved path about 5 doors down from where we are. It is a really nice , but short, walk back there. It also cut about 5 minutes off my walk to take the photos. Lots of birds, and I can imagine it will be a really pretty walk in the summer with leaves on the trees. There is a little marsh area back there as well, with a raised boardwalk going through it, heading to the neighboring housing area.
I nabbed an older satellite photo, and drew on where the path goes.

The red box at the top being where the house will be. Walking there I had my trusty Sansa Clip on, listening to some tunes. When I got there, I took it off and took some photos. It is amazing how quiet the neighborhood is, at least at the moment. We are so used to living in noisy apartments, that I found the lack of sound rather shocking. The constant drone of cars driving, and sirens blaring (we live right by a Fire Station AND Ambulance station) becomes just background noise. Funny, as I write this the Fire Trucks just left the station blaring away. Hopefully we get used to the silence. Naw , our smelly neighbors will probably end up noisy too.
