The House has Shingles..

... I just hope they aren't contagious yuk yuk.

It is hard to see the brown on the shingles, but yes they are Brown. A huge storm cloud passed over the sun just as I got the camera out. You can see the colour a lot better in the sun. The front patio has been poured since the last photo. The Electricity meter looks to be installed as well.
I hope this isn't left over from one of the workers lunches or something :p

Walking around the house you can see where kids have decided we needed extra windows , whether we liked it or not. There seem to be a couple large new holes added to the one wall that is in between the 2 houses being built. I guess as long as it is repaired, and no windows are broken, it is no biggie. Hopefully someone doesn't decide to use the place as a toilet though.
Hopefully the Brick shows up soon, I think there is just us and next door at the brick stage waiting right now.

We's gots us some winders

I guess the Shipping Container outside had the Windows and Doors in it, since they got put in and the container is gone.
More insulation, more roofing and more tuck tape on the seams. Judging by all the other jobs, the shingles are next, then it is a wait for the brick and siding. I think there are 2 houses ahead of us waiting for the brick to be done. Well it is weather resistant at least now, you could probably spend the night in it without drowning in a storm.

Third Floor

Well we have a roof and Loft done, and more pretty pink stuff all over the place.

I keep wondering what is in the shipping container, but I never get up the courage to open it. All of the building materials so far have been dropped off by trucks, and left in piles outside the house. Interior stuff? Windows, Glass, Brick? The framers living quarters? A pet Dog? I dunno.
Talking to the rep at the sales office, we got a bit more information on the merger with Cachet. According to her there will not be any changes that affect us at all. She seemed pretty excited though, Cachet is bringing in more house designs for her to sell, I guess it gets boring selling the same ones over and over. Cachet is apparently more in the area development end , where Reid's is focussed on the building end. The partnership should apparently speed up the next phase a bunch with Cachet bringing in their expertise in getting the area ready. The next phase seems like it will be a different focus, at first, all the lots going in are larger and the house designs are all over 2000 sq feet. There are now only I think 8 lots available in our Phase. I think when we reserved ours there were 18 left. It is amazing how fast they all seemed to go.

Gabbi Finally noticed how quiet the area is. We were sitting in front of the house, with the car off, and it was dead silent. The only sounds noticeable on a regular basis are the high amount of kids playing.

I forgot to get photos, but the person 2 doors down is putting in an above ground pool. I didn't think one would actually fit well in that size of backyard, but I guess we shall see, especially if they decide to put fencing up soon.

Second Floor

Well it looks like most of the second floor framing has been completed. All we need now is a roof and we can probably call the whole thing a "shelter".

This was Friday May 2nd.

And this was Monday May 5th. Happy Cinco de Mayo, you have roof peaks and some insulation!

On another note, we started packing more this weekend. Well more than a box or two a night. So far we have a dining room , and living room stacked with 40 or so boxes, and I don't think we have made a dent yet. Gabbi packed I think 4 large boxes of clothing, but her closet is still completely full! How does that work? I don't know exactly, I think there is a portal to another dimension somewhere in there. The cat probably goes and plays around in the piles of clothes in Dimension 5, that is why we can never find her in our apartment. THAT is probably why Gabbi has been moaning about closet space in the new house, I just figured it out! No 5th dimension portal! it all make sense now.....

Reid's and Cachet merge

So Reid's Heritage Homes London, and a branch of Cachet Estate Homes have merged to create CachetReid. Cachet is a builder from the GTA who I guess decided to move into the London area to build. Instead of taking away from Reid's sales, they decided to do a merging of equals for London. I have no idea how this is going to affect us , if at all, aside from the fact that we have to drive by ugly green and white signs now. From the information I can gather , Cachet has only been around since 2001, but has won the GTA builder of the year before. Do they buy into the whole Green thing though? All of Reid's houses were being built to Energy Star spec before, I guess we will have to see what changes they are going to make there. So far we haven' t recieved any info or assurances officially from CachetReid as to what may change.

Floor 1

I believe most of the wooden parts needed to complete the first floor are all up. At least there's a floor, walls and holes for windows. The framing guys fly through this stuff, it is amazing what they get done in a day. Apparently the framing crews have been working together for years doing the houses in this area, so they know what they are doing, and do it well.

I really wish they would move the shipping container, I want to be able to get shots from that side since it is nice and open.
